Effective Study Skills

Most students must be taught how to learn. Many students do not possess the skills needed to be successful as students. Behind every failing student is a student who does not know the intricacies of how to succeed as a student because no one has ever taught them how. Some schools offer training, but it is usually not mandatory. Schools have not recognized the importance of fundamental learning skills in students and have not actively promoted them. This can lead to discouragement in students, poor grades, and high dropout rates. Instructors are expected to provide quality educational services to students, as their jobs depend on it, but they end up teaching to students who are ill prepared to learn. Skills on how to read effectively, to write an excellent paper, give a good speech, how to create an abstract and outline, how to prepare for and take various types of exams successfully, time management and organizational skills, taking notes, and much more if taught to students would help them to thrive in school. This book is a valuable resource for both instructors and students.
