Effectiveness of Assessment tools of Chemistry used by the BSEK

The purpose of the study was to analyse the assessment tools of question papers of Chemistry subject grade IX developed by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi. The scope of the study was limited to assessment tools developed by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi. The study mainly focused on question papers of Chemistry grade IX in terms of text book and application of Bloom's Taxonomy. Four research questions were raised. The study will help the concerned stakeholders to review their planning and policies for the betterment of assessment process. In depth review of the related literature was made. The population of the study was comprised of question papers of Chemistry grade IX developed by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi. Purposive sampling was adopted. Therefore, the question papers of Chemistry subject grade IX (Science Group) from 2012 to 2016 were selected. The question papers were analysed and it was found that all the content was not covered from the syllabus of Chemistry (theory) grade IX, few chapters have been given more weightage. Bloom's Taxonomy have not been applied in preparation of question papers of Chemistry subject grade IX.
