Effects of Drugs and Substance Abuse on the Existing Peace Structures

From the year 2001 when Plateau state experienced its first major violent conflict, the state has since gone on to acquire the unfortunate reputation of being one of Nigeria's conflict flash points with series of more vicious violent conflicts following the conflict of 2001. As a result, much of the interventions targeted at the state have all been focused on peace building and conflict management. But series of such intervention have not really ended violent conflicts in the state. The research work gives every reader insight into the effects of drugs and substance abuses on the post conflict era in Plateau state, north central Nigeria that was involved in ethno-religious violent conflict for more than one decade leading to the killings of over 10000 people, polarization of communities and social centres across ethnic and religious divide and destruction of lives and properties worth billions of Nigeria Naira.
