Effects of gender on patients with OSA

Sleep is a reward for some and punishment for others.Though snoring had been traditionally considered as a sign of sound sleep but scientific insight into it,led to recognition of a increasingly common disease called "Obstructive Sleep Apnea(OSA)".This disorder is rising to an epidemic level worldwide and commonly being sought as a basis of many disorder like CVA,IHD,HTN,DM,Pulmonary HTN,RTA and Psychiatric disorders. There exist gender differences in various Clinical and Polysomnographic variables which can explain greater prevalence of this disorder in males and can have greater influences on various therapeutic interventions for this disorder.

I am a Post-graduate in Pulmonary Medicine from MUHS (University),Nashik,Maharashtra,India.I have had ample experience in various aspects of Pulmonary Medicine including Sleep and Critical Care.I have presented a paper on "Sleep Apnea" in a National conference (NAPCON) at Jaipur(India),which found space in "LUNG INDIA"(2015).
