Effects of MNU in Albino Mice on the Histology of selected organs
Details
Sprague Dawley, Wistar rats and various transgenic mice are often used to study carcinogenesis in animal models. This book presents information on a study conducted to evaluate the effects of the carcinogen: N-Methyl-N-Nitrosourea (MNU) in mouse models using a less commonly used strain: Swiss Albino mice. The book provides information on MNU induction in Swiss albino mice, which is illustrative of the differences in the susceptibility of various strains to the effects of the carcinogen induction. Percentage tumor induction was minimal at the specified dose of 50mg/kg, suggesting some degree of resistance by this mouse strain to the effects of the carcinogen induction. Histological abnormalities are well highlighted. Hence, the book may also prove useful for teachers and students of histology.
