The contents in this book are based on a research carried out along a recently built superhighway connecting Nairobi the Capital City of Kenya and an industrial town Thika. Data was collected at selected points along this road and analyzed using mathematical models. The results were systematically validated using established models. The Authors expect that this book will stimulate researchers in colleges and universities to initiate research in this field of Transportation Engineering and Planning with a view of improving road safety.

The Authors of this book are professional and practicing highway and transportation engineers based in Kenya. Associate Professors Josphat K. Z. Mwatelah and Zachary Abiero-Gariy are lectures at JKUAT, a renown Public University, while Nicholas Chelugo is practicing Civil Engineer working in the Ministry of Infrastructure in the Republic of Kenya.
