Improving drilling efficiency and mitigating risks are major objectives for all drilling operations. Understanding the behavior of vibration energy applied to enhance drilling rate of penetration and reducing bit wear is key to an environmentally-friendly and efficient drilling. Series of tests and analyses are applied to provide data for the evaluation of vibration frequency and amplitude in rotary drilling using different drill bits. Interpretations show that vibration rotary drilling at controlled vibration frequencies has significant performance improvement in drilling efficiency. The contribution of vibration to this performance increase was found to be very significant.

Dr. Yusuf holds both PhD and Masters degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, with a First Class Honors, from the University of Benin. His interests is in the strategic management of integrated teams in delivering exceptional bottom-line outcomes for organizations.
