Egyptian Masculinity: The Poor and the Burden of Responsibility examines Egyptian Masculinity and its relationship to responsibility by particularly tackling Egyptian men who live in the low socioeconomic fractions of society. Egyptian men s moral and financial responsibilities are thoroughly tackled throughout the book since they are the two most significant aspects of an Egyptian man s life. This book investigates the ways in which Egyptian men perceive and react to their socially-assigned responsibilities while simultaneously maintaining their privileged positions in Egypt. With that said, Egyptian Masculinity: The Poor and the Burden of Responsibility examines the manner in which the existent socioeconomic circumstances, prevailing religious teachings, and discriminatory gender roles determine Egyptian men s gender identity and tailor the very features of which their individuality is composed.

Dina Abu-Seif es una egipcia-estadounidense. Se graduó de la Universidad de Missouri-Columbia con una Licenciatura en Comunicaciones. Poco tiempo después, regresó a Egipto, su país de origen, y completó un Diploma de Posgrado en Estudios del Medio Oriente y una Maestría en Sociología-Antropología en la Universidad Americana de El Cairo.
