Electoral Violence and Democratisation in Ibadan Southwest Nigeria

Attempts to promote democracy have been marred by the upsurge of electoral violence in Nigeria. This situation has led to political exclusion with the popularity of personality politics in Ibadan and Nigeria in general where ideology politics that engages issues and solution rather than violence remains at low ebb. Yet these issues require further research to expand the frontiers of knowledge on the Nigerian polity. This study therefore examined perceived electoral violence and democratisation in Ibadan, Southwestern Nigeria. The struggle for political space by the voiceless stakeholders against personality politics.
