This book came about upon realizing a gap that exists between accounting theory taught at school and what the working environment entails. It is a product of the author's 25 years of experience in the field of accounting supported by notable academic and professional achievements. The textbook prepares students for real work situations while availing financial literacy necessary for entrepreneurship. It is designed to carter for those who have interest in pursuing a career in accountancy or entrepreneurship. Its main focus is how to apply basic accounting techniques and principles in real life business situations. It introduces students to the business world, moves on to simple record keeping, progresses on to financial reporting and application of accounting principles to various business entities. The book looks at the accounting environment and the impact of technology on the subject. Finally, it takes a lighter look at one other branch of accounting namely Taxation, a subject someone fresh from school will encounter as he/she moves on to employment or entrepreneurship.
