Basically, the discovery was made by accident during the excavation of an ancient Roman site along the Changis-sur-Marne riverbank - 30 miles east of the French capital. Science and research have found that the fossils have indicated that the mammoth used to live between 200,000 and 500,000 years ago. The mammoth is scientifically defined as the Woolly Mammoth or Mammuthus Primigenius species. These creatures are known to have lived in North America and Eurasia. The French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research has mentioned that the remains include a femur, a complete pelvis, jawbones and four connected vertebrae. Moreover, various studied have advanced that the mammoth was estimated to be between 20 to 30 years old.
