Emerging Trends in THz Imaging and Spectroscopy
Details
THz imaging is emerging as a powerful technique to
spatially map a wide variety of objects with
spectral features which are present for many
materials of current interest. Objects
buried within common dielectrics can also be
imaged due to their transparency in THz regime.
Unfortunately, the image
quality in such applications is inherently
influenced by scattering introduced by the
inhomogeneities and the presence of barriers. For
continued development in this area, a comprehensive
understanding of the role of these factors on THz
radiation propagation and detection is vital. This
monograph focuses on the various aspects like
scattering, attenuation, frequency filtering and
waveguide propagation of THz radiation and its
subsequent application to a stand-off THz imager
using interferometric detection technique. It also
discusses about agent identification and role of
different imaging system parameters using extensive
simulation. This monograph would be an excellent
source of reference for individuals working in
THz related areas, particularly in THz imaging, for
an up-to-date assessment of the emerging trends and
lingering issues.
