Education is the most dominant and powerful device to bring out essential transformations in the individual as well as the society. These changes are in terms of more extensive knowledge, better growth of intellectual ability, improvement of certain skills peculiar to each subject area, attitude and better adjustment to the given situation and environment. In the present study, the investigator has studied the emotional intelligence, occupational stress and performance of teachers, who are the persons responsible for moulding the future generation. The study has thrown light on the emotional intelligence of teachers and its relation to their academic performance. The study has found that emotional intelligence is positively correlated with academic performance. This study has also examined the influence of personal and job related variables. The results of the study will provide some valuable insights that may help the educational institutions to highlight the significance of this important behavioural skill and to take certain measures and strategies for improving the EI skills of employees to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in the work performance.
