ENDODONTIC IRRIGATION AND NEWER IRRIGATION METHODS

Endodontic irrigation aims for effective root canal disinfection, complementing mechanical instrumentation by removing debris, bacteria, biofilms, and the smear layer from areas inaccessible to files. An ideal irrigant should be antimicrobial, dissolve organic/inorganic tissue, remove the smear layer, and be biocompatible; however, no single solution meets all these criteria, so a combination is often used.This book explores the various irrigants currently used in endodontics and also elaborates on different activation techniques such as passive ultrasonic irrigation and negative pressure systems which improve irrigant effectiveness. The book also explores the different irrigation protocols currently recommended for clinical use and serves as a guide to dental students and clinicians.
