Endoparasites of Mytilus galloprovincialis (Mollusc, Bivalve)
Details
This work aims to study the parasitism of a bivalve mollusc Mytilus galloprovincialis, the examination of 180 individuals of Mytilus galloprovincialis collected at the three sites of the Gulf of Annaba during the winter and spring of the year 2022. The identification of these parasites revealed the presence of two different classes of parasites, a protozoan Marteilia refringens (Comps, 1970) and a trematode Parvatrema duboisi (Dollfus, 1923; Bartoli, 1963).The results showed a significant difference between the parasite populations probably due to biotic and abiotic variability, with the species Marteilia refringens recording the highest parasite load, compared to Parvatrema duboisi. The distribution of parasitic indices in Mytilus galloprovincialis at the three sites shows that Chapuis records the most important compared to the other two sites. All the results are related to the level of exposure of the sites to the different sources of pollution
