This book explains about the various types of ports and its data communications with the processor and it also elaborates the concepts of serial communications. Embedded Systems and its energy consumption through data communications are described in the book. In the book it has been proved that reduction in very small amount of energy consumption in core processors or controllers, peripherals and communication interfaces can give a considerable amount of increased lifetime of the charge stored in the battery operated embedded systems. This book discusses the overview of Energy efficient Digital Serial Interfaces such as SPI and I2C for the processors. An energy calculation through current shunt method for the processor has been discussed with suitable real time example. Measurement of Energy consumption and it's analysis of the processors through the software Proteus VSM and MPLAB IDE with real time examples are demonstrated clearly in this book. This book analyzes deeply about the role of digital serial interfaces in energy consumption and its calculations.

Dr K.Nithiyananthan (2004) received his Ph.D degree from Anna University,INDIA. He is currently working as Senior Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Karpagam College of Engineering,INDIA.Ms Priyanka Mani received her B.Eng degree from BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, She is currently pursuing her P.G in MIT(BOSTON) USA.
