Engineering Psychology and Ergonomics

Chapter one in this book includes introduction to engineering psychology and historical background. The different topics in this chapter are discussed from the viewpoints of introduction to engineering psychology, historical background and the need for a psychology of engineering.In chapter two engineering psychology, ergonomics, and human factors are presented and discussed thoroughly. Chapter three deliberates the relation between human factors and ergonomics from the considerations of introduction, application domains, theories and models, methodologies, and conclusions. In chapter four correlation between ergonomics and economics is deliberated from different viewpoints which include introduction, ergonomics applications, reducing work related musculoskeletal disorders, human factors test and evaluation, macro ergonomics and conclusions. Chapter five discusses the importance of engineering psychologists from the viewpoints of introduction, the demand for engineering psychologists, training and educational requirements, earnings outlook, and pros and cons of engineering psychology. The book is suitable as a textbook for a first course on engineering psychology.

Dr. Osama Mohammed Elmardi Suleiman Khayal was born in Atbara, Sudan in 1966. He received a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Sudan University of science and technology in 1998, and a master degree in solid mechanics from Nile valley university (Atbara, Sudan) in 2003; He also received his PhD degree in mechanics of materials in 2017.
