English for Medical Purposes: A New Dimension in ESP

This case study investigates the attitudes of medical students towards various English native and non-native varieties. The theories underpinning this project assume that ESP students,who are going to be involved in a multinational/multicultural workplace in their local hospitals with few or no native speakers, may not necessarily require the native models. In other words, the native models should not be exclusively regarded by educational authorities in the country. The researcher conducts her research at Jazan university which epitomises the different models as it has both native and non-native English teachers.

A Current PhD candidate at University of Warwick. Elham received her first degree with first honours in English language and linguistics in 2005. She was awarded her masters in 2010 with distinctions from Warwick. Elham won Prince Muhammed bin nassir prize in 2005 in recognition of her distinguished academic endeavours.
