English-speaking names of musical groups

The English-speaking names of musical groups in Great Britain and the United States have been studied comprehensively for the first time: their linguistic and cultural specificity has been identified, described and interpreted on the basis of linguocultural studies. Music is a special social practice in youth subculture, which generates its own onomastic code. The names of musical groups provide access to youth musical culture and are able to reflect the ontological values of youth through the cultural connotations verbalised in them. Structuring the youth worldview on the material of music band names has clarified the knowledge about the nature of youth worldview: the most significant axiospheres in youth culture are protest, society, and nature. The names of musical bands enter the onomastic space of the English language as a domain representing youth culture and its values. The presence of ergonymic and specific characteristics allows the existing onomastic classification to separate the names of musical bands into a separate subclass of ergonyms - aedonyms.
