Enhancing coconut charcoal and activated carbon exports in Sri Lanka

The study focused on identifying major drivers for growth in exports of charcoal and activated carbon industry while examining the bottlenecks that affect to the growth. Both primary and secondary data were collected for analysis. Primary data were collected from purposively selected top level managers of Board of Investment (BOI), top level managers and officers of Coconut Development Authority (CDA) and all charcoal and activated carbon producing companies that registered under CDA. Secondary data were gathered from annual reports of CDA, Sri Lanka coconut statistics books, Sri Lanka Customs, Central Bank reports, annual reports of Export Development Authority. Two literature supported hypotheses were tested to identify the factor affecting to export performance in charcoal and activated carbon industry in Sri Lanka. Descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and chi square test were performed to analysis data.
