The study sought to determine: Whether training can help to enhance the recognition of hazards in the workplace; whether training can help to enhance evaluation and control of hazards in the workplace; and whether training can help to facilitate the implementation of safety programmes in the workplace. The population of the study consisted of the employees of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. Stratified random sampling technique was adopted, with the cadre of employees constituting the basis of stratification. Content validity(face validity)approach was used. Furthermore, the split-half method, using the Spearman Brown Prophecy formula, served to ensure reliability of the instrument. Data were analyzed, using descriptive and inferential statistics. Research findings indicated that Training helps to enhance: recognition of Occupational hazards in the workplace; evaluation and control of occupational hazards in the workplace; as well as implementation of safety programmes in the workplace. The need for policy makers in industrial organizations to give priority attention to the training of their employees was suggested, among others.
