Enhancing Literacy Instruction for Young Children

In a climate where positive child outcomes and accountability are expectations for early childhood programs teacher preparation must increase teacher knowledge as well as equip teachers to be positive language and literacy role models. This book reviews the evolution of language and literacy development and teacher preparation in the United States to uncover research on best practices in language and literacy instruction. More importantly it offers a program to enhance instruction for young children through comprehensive teacher preparation that includes training, coaching and work place literacy development.
