Enriched cages for laying hens

This book deals in detail with the advantages and disadvantages of different housing systems for commercial laying hens, based mainly on European egg production experience. In addition, aspects of the use of enriched cage resources that directly affect animal behaviour and welfare are emphasised. On the other hand, aspects related to egg quality that have a major impact on consumer health are also presented. The book ends with a chapter that reviews the meaning and methods of assessing the welfare of laying hens.
