Home-based entrepreneurship is increasing. Prior
research has looked at the role of gender and
ethnicity in the creation of home-based enterprises,
but not much is known about the
professional-managerial entrepreneur who chooses to
start and run their business from home. These
entrepreneurial efforts are key economic drivers; are
a growing force; and serve as a means for the
accomplished and successful manager to find a better
quality of life and flexibility in work along with
financial sustainability. The roles of self-efficacy
and personality preference or type have been linked
to human achievement and performance. Entrepreneurial
strategies have been associated with various personal
characteristics. This study explored the relationship
of personality preferences and self-efficacy to the
strategies of home-based entrepreneurs. As a result,
a better
understanding of the personal dynamics of
entrepreneurial strategies creates the opportunity
for more effective management of
home-based businesses which are a critical component
of today s
global marketplace.
