Entrepreneurship intentions of youth in vocational training-Sri Lanka

This publication has been compiled based on an empirical research study done in Sri Lanka during 2017 of the youth in vocational training. The empirical study included 1011 respondents who were queried as to how they view about entrepreneurship and startups in the country. The country experiences an expansion in small and medium size enterprises and simultaneously encounters a relatively higher unemployment among youth especially those among who have followed vocational training courses. The research concluded that the youth intentions were positive on startups and thus facilitation for new startup creation is needed. Entrepreneurship competencies may be included in vocational curricula in order to deliver required knowledge and shape the attitudes of youth towards entrepreneurship.
