Energy use in buildings accounts for a significant percentage of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Thus architects are responsible to adapt their designs to avoid this. There is an insisting need to apply zero energy building concepts in buildings, and since a poor design of building envelope can greatly affect the building performance, therefore this book focuses on zero energy building concepts for the building envelope.

Omar Shafik Borham, attained his Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Cairo University and is currently a post graduate student in the field of Environmental Design at Cairo University. His research work focuses on promising and novel practices in architecture that have the potential to lead an ecological trend in the future.
