Environmental Assessment of Industrial Suppliers

Pressure from civil society in the face of serious and constant environmental accidents and the depletion of natural resources essential to the survival of future generations has mobilized governments and companies to define standards and procedures that protect the natural environment. In this context, organizations have rethought their environmental conduct, adopting guidelines and practices that aim to minimize resource consumption and the environmental impact of their operations. In this regard, it is important to highlight the importance of implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in companies, capable of monitoring environmental performance through indicators and proposing action plans to improve deviations in environmental conduct. However, the control of environmental impacts and resource use should not be limited to processes and products within a company; it is necessary that this concern for the environment be established in the other links of the chain, including suppliers, emphasizing the importance of Green Supply Chain Management in the current organizational context.
