Environmental Journalism in Bangladesh
Details
The basic functions of mass media are to inform, educate, entertain and persuade the audience about different issues. Mass media also play watchdog role to let people know about the society. Recently, Bangladesh has become one of the major environmentally threatened countries in the world. The journalists are the lifeblood of media industry and they can play pivotal and leading role for building awareness in this regard. Since the journalists have been covering reports on environmental issues, no study has yet been conducted on the perception, understanding, attitudes and practices as well as the awareness of the journalists on these issues. In this regard, this book is a pioneer one, which will explore the understanding, practices and barriers of environmental reporting in Bangladesh. Moreover, the findings of the study will help the media policymakers to think about training needs for journalists. It will also help them to form a time-bound and applicable policy for environmental journalism.
