ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) OF A GRAIN PROCESSING INDUSTRY

A coherent well integrated Environmental system is a vital and important step in ensuring that environmental issues are systematically identified, controlled and monitored in order to achieve optimum natural resource uphold for the present and the future generations. Most industries in the world are major sources of environmental pollution yet they have not been able to procure appropriate mechanisms on successful pollution prevention programs that helps identify opportunities to incorporate pollution prevention measures throughout their daily operations. This book, therefore, provides an approach of using an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 14001 standards that aid to plan, implement, assess, and continually improve environmental management practices. The 17 functional elements that form the basis of the EMS are analyzed critically in the "Plan, Do, Check and Act" ISO 14001 Model that aim at incessant improvement. The EMS sheds more light on environmental protection as far as pollution prevention is concerned and specifically targets processing industries and organizations that aim at achieving efficient and continuous environmental performance.
