Environmental Pollution and Pollution Management

Environmental Pollution encompasses any adverse alteration in the physical, chemical, or biological characteristics of air, water, or land, posing potential harm to human and other life forms, living conditions, and cultural assets. The term 'Environment' encompasses the amalgamation of all social, economic, biological, physical, or chemical factors constituting the surroundings of humanity. 'Pollute' denotes the act of tainting the purity or sanctity, rendering something foul or filthy; and 'pollution' signifies the process of such contamination. Pollution manifests through the release of substances into the atmosphere, rendering the air unfit for breathing, compromising water quality, or degrading soil health, thereby affecting the well-being of plants, animals, and humans. The accelerated pace of industrialization, expanding urbanization, rapid population growth, increased vehicular traffic, and other human activities have disrupted the equilibrium of the natural atmosphere. The repercussions of pollution on our biosphere are multifaceted and escalating rapidly. This book discusses environmental pollution and pollution management.
