Environmental requirements for strawberry cultivation in Nepal

Nowadays farmers are being aware and attracted by cash crops cultivation. This book provides the scientific information of suitable environmental conditions needed for sustainable strawberry farming. Strawberry cultivation has already been a success in Nepal and this study has been conducted with the objectives to improve the yield of this important cash crop. First, analysis of the major physico-chemical parameters of irrigation water quality. Second, study of water balance to find the water deficit months for strawberry irrigation. Third, determine of climatic classification suitable for successfully growing species of strawberry. Lastly, conduct socio- economic survey to know marketing and irrigation status of strawberry farming. This study may be one of the tools for farmers to switch over in cultivating different cash-crops beneficial from rural, urban national to the global levels.
