It is found in most of Europe (except Iceland, the Iberian Peninsula, Ukraine and most of the Balkan Peninsula), east to the eastern part of the Palearctic ecozone. The wingspan is 17-23 mm. Adults are on wing from August to October. The larvae feed on Populus tremula and possibly other Populus species. They feed within rolled leaves.A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
