Eriel Sánchez León (born April 12, 1975 in Fomento, Sancti Spíritus Province, Cuba) is an offensive baseball catcher for Sancti Spíritus of the Cuban National Series. Sánchez was part of Cuba's gold medal-winning team at the 2004 Summer Olympics, silver medal winning team at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the second place team at the 2006 World Baseball Classic. The Cuba national baseball team is the national team of Cuba. The team is made up of amateur players from the Cuban national baseball system, as there are no professional sports leagues in Cuba.
