In Malawi poverty remains the greatest challenge to Malawi's public policy and reducing it the most fundamental objective of the successive governments since 1994 and since 1995 the government has implemented several policy reforms to make the economy more open. With that in mind there is a need to provide a perspective regarding the determinants of poverty, poverty transitions and the effects of trade on poverty in Malawi.

Dr. Bokosi holds a doctorate in Economics from the University of Kent (UK) as well as a BSc and an MSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Malawi. He is the Executive Director of AFRODAD, a Pan-African organisation that operates in 23 countries. He taught in many economics courses at various universities
