This monograph presents fundamental information on the stages of development of world architecture from ancient times to the early 20th century. It analyzes the characteristics of architectural and artistic compositions and their role in development. It explains how buildings and structures are determined by their functional nature, design and technical methods, and the properties of building materials. Examples of architectural monuments characteristic of each historical stage are provided.
