The book aims to provide a historical perspective on the complex challenges facing Nigeria since independence. The ethnic and religious conflicts that have plagued the country have posed a challenge to leadership and have undermined the Nigerian will to be a nation. One of the greatest problems for the builders of modern Nigeria is how to structure a truly Nigerian nation from the many ethnic and linguistic groups that make up the country. The book proposes a corporate political arrangement in Nigeria that will transform ethnicity into national consciousness.

Dr. Basil A. Ekot is a lecturer of Political Science and Diplomacy in the Department of Social Sciences, Veritas University, Abuja, Nigeria. He holds a doctorate degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of New South Wales Sydney. He has authored two books and has several articles published in reputed journals.
