Ethnobotanical study deals with the study of plants and their uses as medicine for the well being of the human body.The angiospermic plants were collected from the various villages and forest area including hills and hillocks of the Modasa taluka. A good number of trips were arranged in accordance with the different seasons throughout the whole year. The fully grown plants were collected during the monsoon and in the later part of the rainy season. The collected plants were brought to the laboratory, identified and classified to their respective species level. The plant specimens were dried up with customary method and were mounted on herbarium sheets and labeled.The ethnobotanical data were collected through the dialogue, discussion and arranged meetings with local tribals, who have sufficient knowledge of the plants. Detailed questionnaire was specially prepared for a dialogue with the tribal people. Benthem and Hooker system of classification was adopted for the present study. The scientific names of the plants have been given as per the latest references.Plants were described with brief notes. Flowering and fruiting timings as well as ethnobotanical uses of each plant.

Dr M S Jangid Ph.D,Associate Professor of Botany in Sir P T Science College,Modasa,Gujarat,India ,since 1996.He did his Ph.D. in Ethnobotany from Hem.North Gujarat University Patan,India in 2005.He published more than 25 research papers.He has guided three Ph.D.Students.He has been the Principal Investigator of three MRP funded by UGC Pune.
