Eucalyptus as an Alternative Sources for Energy and Food Security

The accredited is unaccredited: Eucalyptus in Ethiopia. It provide more than 90% of construction wood, firewood in Ethiopia. In addition it is the main scaffolding for the booming construction in Ethiopia. It becomes almost a cash tree for rural households at which it contributes a greater share of household's cash income so as people can buy food to feed their families and attain food security. Had it not been for the existence of eucalyptus in Ethiopia, the deforestation rate of natural forests would have been ten folds than the current situation.

Autorentext

The author had studied his Bsc at Alemaya University of Agriculture in 1996 and his MSc at Hawassa University, Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources (HU-WGCFNR) in 2006 and by now he is studying his PhD at HU-WGCFNR. He worked as technician, expert, project officer, project coordinator and researcher in different institutions.
