The fundamental rights in the EU have undergone a remarkable journey, evolving from soft, abstract legal principles into a legally binding EU Charter with transformative force, shaping EU law. This edited volume reflects this journey and addresses the most contemporary challenges of the EU Charter in fully realizing the potential of fundamental rights in the Union. As a supranational political entity grounded in common values rather than any other qualifiers, the EU must, while embracing its diversity, seize on the Charter's capacity to serve as common language and uniting factor.
