Evaluation of Agriculture Crops of Jammu a Linear Programming Approach

The state of Jammu and Kashmir is a hill state having varied topography, cultural, social and economic status. Agriculture is the backbone of the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. Over 70% of its population of more than one crores depend on Agriculture and allied sectors. These sectors contribute around 27% of State Income. The diversity in physiographic features, agro-climatic variation at macro and micro level, existence of Cold-Arid, Temperate, Intermediate and Sub-Tropical Zones within a small geographical area of 2.22 lakh sq.kms speaks volume about the vast agricultural potential in the state. Rice, Wheat, Maize, Pulses, Fodder, Oilseeds, Potato, Barley are the main crops of the region. They are now diversifying to cash crops such as Flowers, Vegetables, Quality seeds, Aromatic and Medicinal plants, Mushrooms around the year etc.

Hari Govind Mishra has obtained Ph.D degree in Management in 2007.He joined I.I.M Ahmedabad as a Academic Associate.Securing IIMA exposure he joined Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Jammu as a Assistant Professor.Dr.Mishra worked on various projects.He is the author of several articles published in reputed journals.
