Evaluation of soil fertility & underground water quality of Porbandar

Major constrains of the soils of Porbandar district were low fertility of N, P and Mn and salinity of soils and waters. Low fertility problem confined to the talukas with high to medium textured soils and salinity problem was severe in areas with comparatively heavier textured soils. Similar to Porbandar district Ghed area also possess the low fertility of N, P and Mn and observing salinity and sodicity of the soils. Low fertility confined to less use of fertilizer and mono cropping pattern. Where as salinity and sodicity problem were severe in area with comparatively heavier textured soils and ingresssment of sea water in such a low lying areas.
