Examination of the Contributions of SMEs to Economic Development

The issue of employment creation is arguably a key factor in every economic development. There have been several studies that indicated employment and GDP as the major contributions of SMEs to an economy. Moreover, this study was set to examine the contributions of SMEs to the economic development of Birim Central Municipal in order to identify additional contributions of SMEs to those stipulated by empirical studies. Furthermore, the study sought to find out among the contributions of SMEs identified, those that would be significant to the economic development of Birim Central Municipal. Above all, the study sought to find out policies and strategies that would be helpful to grow small and micro enterprises to help create more jobs in the Municipal.
