Experiences Of Persons Living with HIV in Support Groups

When I was diagnosed [HIV] I became worried and confused, I thought I was going to die, but after joining the support group, I realized I was not going to die I got to believe that I could live the number of years planned for me by God on earth. We meet to share experiences, testimonies and discuss issues that concern us; so I got my courage from the support group .(Getty, a 41-year old woman) They teach us about positive living: if you have HIV, you need to reduce sexual activities because the energy is already down. If you meet any new partner, we have been educated to protect ourselves to prevent re-infection. We also learnt about the effects of good nutrition and clean environment on our lives .
