Explicit versus implicit instruction
Details
The current book is the results of a study that was conducted at Sharif University of Technology. It investigated the effect of explicit versus implicit instruction. Students were given a discourse completion test (DCT) which was designed by the researcher. The results revealed that explicit instruction is not necessarily superior to implicit instruction. This runs counter to previous research findings. The discourse completion test which was also developed in the current study is one of the first endeavors in Persian pragmatics testing. The test can be used by future researchers for research purposes. The review of the related literature in this book is also thorough and deals with various issues in pragmatics research. It is recommended for researchers in language testing and pragmatics research.
