Exploring Food-Water Nexus in a Hungry World Committed to SDGs

This book explores the inter-linkages between Food, Water, Health, Environment, and humanity's quest for Sustainable Development. Food ingrains enormous water and carbon footprints, and affects our health and body conditions are totally a function of what we eat. What we, as humans choose to eat decides the future of human existence on this Planet as Climate Change, Global warming, water scarcity, land degradation, biodiversity depletion and diseases stare us in our face even as we collectively strive to set for us the Sustainable Development Goals and associated targets. The book explains that food cannot be a choice of individual freedom-that what we eat affects everyone else and the entire Nature around us, and therefore the menu on our plates decide our common future.

Dr Monika Vyas and Professor Mukul Kulshrestha are currently working at the Environmental Engineering division of the National Institute of Technology, MANIT-Bhopal, India. Their area of interest lies in environmental modelling techniques, water policy, regulation, sustainability, EIA and Water-Food-Climate change nexus.
