Exploring Sexual Health in Clinical Practice
Details
Sexual health is a fundamental aspect of the life
cycle that arises in mental health treatment with
individuals of all ages. Despite the pervasiveness
of sexual health issues, it is a topic that is often
neglected in clinical practice due to the complex
nature of what constitutes sexual health and sexual
practices. Sexual health is often difficult for
practitioners and clinicians to address openly and
honestly with clients. In addition, it is uncertain
as to what sexual health related training mental
health practitioners are receiving in academic and
professional programs in the United States.
The research in this book seeks to assess mental
health practitioners and direct care workers
attitudes, knowledge and training in sexual health
utilizing an Integral Theoretical Framework. This
book can inform educators and counselors'
understanding of sexual issues for
the development of clinical skills and the
betterment of clients.
