This comprehensive review aims to explore the immense potential of nanoparticles in targeted drug delivery for disease treatment. It delves into their numerous advantages, such as their ability to overcome biological barriers, extend drug release, and amplify therapeutic effects. Moreover, it addresses the key challenges and limitations typically associated with nanoparticle-based drug delivery, including issues related to toxicity, poor stability, difficulty in scale-up production, and concerns over regulatory approval. In addition to discussing the advantages and challenges, this review also explores the vast range of applications that nanoparticles have in targeted drug delivery.
