Extinction

Ilse Hofer, a young astrophysics student, proposes sending intelligent mind-uploaded files rather than humans to the stars during a starship convention. Many years later, as a distinguished college professor, she makes this proposal by sending twelve selected brains and the most advanced AI information. Four advanced mind-uploaded entities are sent to Voltaire, in the Proxima Centauri system, at light speed through the radio telescope. Officially, their mission is to contact potential aliens; secretly, it is to take possession of their minds and obtain control of the planet. The four Hofers, as they are called, arrive at the planet four and a half years later, each ending up in different alien bodies, taking control of them and develop a technology that could create humans in a new world.
