Fabrication Of Autonomous Wheelchair For Disabled People

Driving a manual wheelchair is a difficult task for physically disabled persons. The purpose of this project work is to provide electro-mechanical transmission power to the wheelchair. The proposed wheelchair has been implemented with the design and assembly of the whole body. Due to high sustainable stress, low cost, and availability, Mild steel has been chosen over Aluminium, Cast iron, Stainless steel for shaft material. The constructed wheelchair has a frame, two rear wheels with one shaft unit, two front caster wheels for smooth turning and a chain-driven gear train for power assist to rear wheel from motor shaft.
