Family Conflicts and Issues through the Novels

Family life is sometimes marked by marital or family conflicts. These conflicts have their roots in the education of children, the management of the family budget, relations with in-laws, the distribution of household tasks, the exercise of a profession by a spouse and sexuality. This book analyzes these conflicts through the study of two Burkinabe novels: "Le miel amer" by Jean Baptiste SOME and "Devoir de cuissage" by Hadiza SANOUSSI. What are the causes, manifestations and consequences of conflicts in families? How do families manage these conflicts? Le miel amer (Bitter honey) and Devoir de cuissage (Duty to woo) answer all these questions and provide an insight into women's living conditions, women's revolts and violence in families through the main characters, such as Ada and Abou in the two novels analyzed.
